Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.
This phrase is almost as synonymous with wedding planning as is singing “Going to the Chapel” to your favorite bride-to-be. When it comes to choosing wedding day accessories, many brides keep this in mind as a way to stick with tradition. To some, choosing exactly what piece or feature they’d like to represent each portion of this phrase may be a more difficult choice than not, so that is where we step in. This post is the first of a series of posts to highlight this classic expression and we hope that it provides some inspiration! Without further ado, we are going to move on to something blue!
Jewelry: We love any excuse to wear new jewelry so why not add a beautiful blue piece to your wedding day ensemble? (Bonus points if its a borrowed piece!) From sapphire to aquamarine, there are a variety of stones available to choose from. Our pick? This gorgeous ring.
Nail Polish: A mani and pedi are likely on your list of pre-wedding preparations, so why not opt for a gorgeous shade of blue? If you don’t want it to be distracting, you can always opt for a muted blue polish.
Shoes: Whether you opt for classic heels or sweet sneakers, your wedding shoes should always be two things: your choice and comfortable. We love the idea of adding a pop of color to your feet by way of a pair of gorgeous shoes. Our favorites? These beauties and these cuties!
Lingerie: While it won’t be on display, lingerie is a unique (and sexy!) option for your something blue. Based off of your dress, you may be limited in regards to what undergarments you can choose from, but if you’re not limited, this bra is just the right amount of sweet and sexy. We also love this bedazzled number.
Another item that falls under the lingerie category is the garter. If you and your spouse-to-be have decided to do a garter toss (or even if you are passing), a colorful garter could serve perfectly as your something blue. Our picks are here: light/dark.
Dress: We are always pro non-traditional wedding choices, especially when the bride’s gown is involved. We love a hint of color and think that this gown is just gorgeous.
If a colored dress is not your style, but you still want to incorporate your something blue, we suggest custom stitching on the inside of your skirt or bodice. Your stitching options are endless – wedding date, initials, favorite quote, you name it!
We hope that our suggestions helped with choosing your something blue. Stay tuned for more!
