Celebrated at the groom’s sister’s home, Shakira and Nev’s January wedding was an intimate affair spiced with love. The cozy venue was flooded with color and perfectly captured the newlywed’s love story. Their guests feasted on delicious Mediterranean food followed by a decadent cake, courtesy of Frost Me Gourmet and enjoyed the beautiful winter evening. The bride knew from the beginning that she wanted to incorporate elements of Indian culture, a nod to her family’s heritage, and some of the key details that fulfilled this want were the golden elephant place card holders, the spice blend favors, and the gorgeous henna designs that graced her hands and feet.
Bright florals in various textures were another element that Shakira wished to incorporate and her flower dreams were (thankfully) met by our efforts. That’s right – in addition to planning and coordination, we also provided floral services, a first in The Gilded Rose Weddings history! The vivid colors were balanced with gold accents and the overall look was topped off with candlelight and twinkling market lights. As a food blogger, Shakira knew what she was looking for when hiring a baker and Frost Me Gourmet’s delicious (and stunning!) options were exactly what she had in mind. The classic tiered piece was accented by flowers and finished with a custom cake topper representing an affectionate nickname. Another unique element was seen in the chosen table numbers – instead of going with the usual numeric options, the newlyweds chose their top three travel destinations, Athens, Auckland, and Tokyo, to represent each table.
Not including the venue, several family members played key roles during the big day which added to the love witnessed throughout. Shakira’s brother and stepfather walked her down the aisle and the duo was married by Nev’s brother, but the real showstopper was their nephew, who played both flower boy, ring bearer, and emcee!
